Matt Bouback

Coach

What is your fitness background?

I have been a Certified Trainer for over 20 years. I have struggled through my own personal health issues over the years, which has given me the ability as a coach and trainer to work with clients on a more personal level. I obtained a wrestling scholarship for a D1 program and later on in life got into Mixed Martial Arts, and Obstacle Course Racing. Athletically, I have a good success in competitive sports and have worked with many clients in these fields.

Dedicating over twenty years of my life in this profession I have had the opportunity to work with thousands of clients in the health and fitness space. Whether it is online or through one of our many gyms we have owned and operated our passion for helping others has never relented.

Why did you become a trainer?

In college I was inspired by my instructor and strength and conditioning coach for our wrestling team. He was super motivating and I was really pushed by him to pursue personal training. I got certified and had just a handful of clients during the early years. Due to my line of work I traveled extensively for about 5 years and my weight and health got out of control gaining over a 100lbs and falling into the trap of abusing alcohol. Through a chain of events in my life I took control of my health and doubled my efforts to get my health back and lead the charge and become an example to my clients.

What’s your favorite movement?

I don’t have a favorite movement, but I have a favorite piece of equipment. The Assault Bike. Those of you that have went all out for :30-1:00 on it know exactly what I’m talking about.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Definitely Tacos!

What’s your inspiration?

I would not be on this earth if I didn’t marry my wife Carrie. She has been a blessing to me and has been a great partner in my life. My two daughters Olivia and Gabby are the two things in my life I look forward to. They make me so proud. These are the three people in my life that are my inspiration and that I want to be most proud of me.

What is your fitness background?

After being married for more than 20 years to a fitness fanatic, you can’t help but pick up on that positive addiction. I love short fast HIIT workouts and running with friends.  I began my running journey a few years ago with some great encouragement from my friends and family and look forward to begin training for my second full marathon later this year.

What is your favorite cheat food?

All that have come to love me, know that I have a love for candy.

What’s your inspiration and why?

Hands down, my husband and kids!

Coach

What is your fitness background?

Having been born with Asthma and Raynaud’s Syndrome, exercise has always been an integral part of my life in an effort to keep these in check.

I was inspired to learn more about fitness and nutrition to better serve my ladies.  Took classes, took tests and started working as a personal trainer (Jamie Buck Fitness) in addition to working at Curves.

2010 started Byron Area Battle of the Bulge weight loss contest.  In, 2016 I changed the name to Training to Transform.  Contest has run twice per year for 12 weeks.  Includes 2 workouts per week, nutritional coaching, weekly weigh in, weekly prizes, 5k to end the contest.  Winners have lost up to 23% of their total weight.

Between contests, I have offered a 6- week boot camp class—all body weight work.

Working with Special Populations since 2006

Why did you become a trainer?

At age 5, my Allergist told me I’d never be able to participate in gym class, never play sports, and would always be medicated.  Teenage through adult, sports and fitness have always been a part of my life and I eventually decided to make it a job so that I could help others overcome obstacles and maximize their
capabilities.

What’s your favorite movement?

The Burpee!  I won’t bore you with the science behind why I like it, but someday I’ll tell you about it!

What is your favorite cheat food?

Nachos

What’s your inspiration?

I’m inspired by greatness, hard work, mental strength, and effort.  Getting to watch people do more than they thought they could do, no matter their fitness level, fuels me to continue working hard on myself.  Aging is inevitable, but how we do it is a choice!

What is your fitness background?

I have been a runner since high school and have always had a love for running and weightlifting. In the more recent years I have been doing a lot of competitive racing such as Spartan, 5k’s, Half Marathons, Trail Races, and anything OCR. I love racing and being able to challenge my competitive side. In 2018 I qualified for the Spartan World Championship in Tahoe, CA.

Why did you become a trainer?

I have experienced first-hand the positive effects of healthy eating and daily exercise. I feel that exercise and living a healthy lifestyle is something that all people need and if I can take my knowledge and passion to motivate just one person out there, what greater job is there?

What’s your favorite movement?

Favorite movement is the clean and jerk. It’s one of the more challenging movements for me but gives me a sense of accomplishment when done.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Definitely homemade pizza with GF crust.

What’s your inspiration and why?

My inspiration is hands down my children. If they take after me in anything, I can only hope it’s a love for health and fitness.

What is your fitness background?

I recently started working out consistently when Reign opened. I believe a lot of that love comes from Spin. When opening Reign, my number one request was the have a Spin room, because of the many times I have taken a class before at other gyms since I was young. The atmosphere, and vibe of the class makes for a great and fun workout. It’s addicting, really. I am currently in the process of finishing my Personal Training Certificate, in hopes of teaching our Group fitness classes as well!

What is your favorite cheat food?

My favorite cheat meal is sushi! I wouldn’t say sushi is the worst meal you can have, but when I each sushi I eat A LOT of sushi!

What’s your inspiration and why?

I wouldn’t say I have a specific person, or thing that inspires me, because I try to find little bits of inspiration in everything I do or come across. People, community, etc. all inspire me to do better, work hard, and be a good human!

Fun Fact

A fun fact about me is I am currently in the process of completing my nursing degree in hopes to work in a hospital with lots of babies one day!
